Microsoft introduces innovative SmartGlass technology

This new revelation from the Microsoft camp is set to put it one step ahead of its competition, at least in one respect. At a press conference, the technology giant announced the upcoming release of SmartGlass technology. SmartGlass provides a way of sharing content between an Xbox and any Windows device, in a development that will provide consumers with an enriched user experience. It will work with Windows 8 tablets, Windows Phones, Xbox 360s, PCs, iOS and Android. This new technology is more advanced than AirPlay, which is Apple’s offering that does not possess the same level of functionality.

One great facility that SmartGlass has, is that it allows the user to watch a film on their Windows 8 tablet and pause it to resume watching on their television. So if you have spend the day travelling on a train and have been watching a film on your Windows 8 tablet, then you can finish watching it in the comfort of your own home once you have arrived. You can even pause it to play a game of partypoker or eat dinner, and then choose to pick up watching it on a different device. As well as this, SmartGlass facilitates multi-screen entertainment. You can watch a film on the television, while reading information about it on a different screen and gaining further knowledge about it’s cast or storyline.

Another great ability that comes with this new technology is the chance to browse Internet Explorer on the Xbox. You can do this while using your Windows tablet of phone to control the cursor. There are many other great features that SmartGlass will bring to customers and it is set to be released this fall. It will provide an exciting opportunity for creative designers and developers to experiment and spread their wings and it will be exciting to see it in action.
